Cork is a natural material that has been used in many areas of our lives for many years. This specific raw material is obtained from cork oak, which is associated with low costs and at the same time does not adversely affect the natural environment. Cork oak grows in the countries of Southern Europe, and it is most often observed in Portugal. It is a country considered to be the primary source of the oaks from which the cork is obtained.
The greatest advantage of natural cork is its thermal and acoustic insulation in rooms where it was used as, for example, a cork underlay. This feature is due to the fact that it is distinguished by a low thermal conductivity coefficient, and therefore allows it to be kept in a given room. Hence, it is not surprising that cork underlayment is often used in apartments, as it prevents heat loss that could escape from leaky walls or floors. Thus, it guarantees a comfortable temperature in our home. It is also a material impermeable to water, which also does not penetrate the cells, therefore it seems unsinkable (within reason, not immersed in water) and will not get wet. This advantage makes it not a convenient place for the development of various microorganisms, especially fungi, so it can also be installed in the kitchen, where steam rises during cooking. It is also an anti-allergic material as it does not absorb dust. Cork wallpaper therefore seems to be an ideal solution in those rooms where we want to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
Natural cork, after drying and thermal treatment, is used to produce products that are used in the household, but also in the office or construction industry. Among them, the most popular is cork wall mounted on walls in various rooms. It is available as a roll cork or in the form of cork plates of appropriate sizes and grains. Such a cork is installed on the wall of the floor, fixing the wallpaper with a special glue. You can also find a different and more practical solution and choose a self-adhesive wallpaper. Cork looks very nice and elegant, giving the rooms a natural look, as a thermal insulator it makes the interior warm and not exposed to the inconvenience of temperature changes.
